To be admitted to the Health, Assistance and Nursing program, candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
Holders of a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent, such as an Attestation d’équivalence d’études secondaires V, or a post-secondary diploma such as a Diplôme d’études collégiales or a Bachelor’s degree.
OR
Individuals who are at least 16 years of age on September 30 of the school year in which their training is to begin, and who have obtained Secondary V credits in language of instruction and Secondary IV credits in second language and mathematics in programs of study established by the Minister, or who have been recognized for equivalent learning.
OR
People who are at least 18 years of age when they enter the program and who have the following functional prerequisites: successful completion of the General Development Test and Secondary 5 units in the language of instruction in a program of study established by the Minister, or recognition of equivalent prior learning.
OR
Individuals who have obtained Secondary 3 units in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in programs of study established by the Minister, and who will continue their general education courses concurrently with their vocational training in order to obtain the units they lack from among the following: Secondary 4 and 5 Language of Instruction and Secondary 4 Second Language and Mathematics in programs of study established by the Minister.
Duration: 18 months (1800 hours / 120 credits)
Program objectives
- Provide students with the technical and basic skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to perform caregiver tasks while putting the patient's needs first.
- Train students to work in teams and establish effective support relationships.
- Teach students to communicate effectively with all members of the medical team, patients and their families.
- Give students the ability to respond effectively to problems and adapt to difficult situations.
